AeTec achieved ISO 9002Certification in November 1996 according to the 1994 Certification Standard. At the time AeTec had been in business only four and a half years.

ISO Certification represents having and maintaining complete quality standards for every procedure throughout the operation. Attaining the certification requires the development of both the best known procedure and a minimum acceptable standard for that procedure. In AeTec's case, the procedure manual was a 700 page document. The manual was complete and procedures in place prior to AeTec's pre-assessment by an independent auditor.

After passing the pre-assessment, the auditor monitored ongoing improvements. Criteria for certification were outlined and the deadline was set for compliance. Those were met and the official audit resulted in certification in November 1996.

In order to maintain ISO certification, AeTec must show the following elements in place and in use:

  • Internal Auditing Measures
  • Corrective and Preventative Actions
  • Change Control
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Statistical Process Control
  • Operator Training and Certification
  • ESD Program

The re-audit schedule for maintaining certification includes 2-day audits every six months. In addition to those, there is a 1-week in-depth audit every 5 years.
